AN ODE TO CORONA

Corona Oh Corona !
You have appeared out of the blue
Not a warning, not a clue
Though you were born in Wuhan
In a flash you hit Milan.

Corona Oh Corona!
Soon you were everywhere
Millions affected, the world in despair
The only solution was lockdown
You ruled! your name means the crown.

Corona Oh Corona!
All of us are wearing are wearing a mask
Recognising people is a difficult task
Our hands we wash and sanitise
Social distancing we maximise.

Corona Oh Corona!
Our classes are being held on zoom
Which is the new classroom
Though it's easy, no bag to carry
I miss my friends and the Jhoola badi

Corona Oh Corona!
The migrant laborers are in pain
Away from home, no buses or trains
Without food, water and shelter
On the road, helter-skelter.

Corona Oh Corona!
The frontline warriors I salute
Their dedication is absolute
Doctors and nurses, without fear
They will defeat you, Oh virus mere!

Corona Oh Corona!
The earth has healed I can see
The sky is azure, the air is free
Pigeons, Parakeets, Koyals and Sparrows
Chirp merrily in their nests and hollows.

Corona Oh Corona!
It's been long, now end your spell
We have learned our lesson well.
A heavy price to our dismay
Go back and never return, I pray!
