Sensory Integration Therapy

Sensory Integration or Sensory processing is "the neurological process that organizes sensation from one's own body as well as from the environment and makes it possible to use the body effectively within the environment".

Therapy will be aimed at helping the child to:

• Successfully meet the daily challenges that may occur due to inadequate sensory processing.
• To adapt her behaviour using strategies she has learnt.
• Through a series of play based, fun activities the child will learn to actively engage in the therapy.
• The child’s preferences will be used to initiate therapeutic experiences.
• Increasing a child's ability to adequately process sensory input.
• Recommending environmental accommodations that parents and school staff can use to enhance the child's optimal functioning at home, school, and in the community.
