TEENAGE ALIENS

FROZEN

Everyone have the right to express themselves, to let that crazy, uninhibited person inside them break free. Some people express themselves through painting, some by playing instruments and others by singing or even dancing. But for those of us who don't know how to play instruments, who can't draw straight lines, who sing like crows and have two left feet, there is always another option… to rebel.
Many people think that rebels are teens who are covered with tattoos and piercings, who have dyed hair and an "I don't really care about anything" attitude, but actually that's not true. As I said before, many people express themselves through art and music. If people rate that as "normal" why don't they rate body art in the same way?

Sometimes when I'm standing in an empty field without a single soul in sight, I somehow feel suffocated. It's like the person inside of me, the person that I actually am is waiting to be let out, and my soul is waiting to be set free. I want to have an image of my own. I want to be known for being me. I want to be as free a spirit as a bird, flying high in the sky…free. As Nelly Furtado put it in her song, "I'm like a Bird,"

"I'm like a bird,
I only fly away.
I don't know where my home is
I don't know where my soul is…"

I think there's a limit to everything and if you exceed that limit you won't know where to draw the line. I know what my limits are, and I know where to stop.
In my opinion, most teens rebel because they don't know how to deal with their problems. They don't know how to express themselves and how to create an image for themselves. When you are in that situation the easiest thing to do is to rebel. They think that there is no one out there who knows how they feel and why they do what they do. They think that the only way to be heard is to get attention. And the best way to get attention is to rebel.
But this is not true. There are other ways to deal with your problems such as talking about how you feel and writing in a journal. At the end of the day, the reason why I want to rebel is because I want to be different. I don't want to be just another face in the crowd. I want to be "me". People say that being a rebel is a bad thing. That being a rebel is just another one of those freaky things that teens do, the reason… Hey ! They're teens! But in my opinion being a rebel is the best way to express one's self. Being a rebel ROCKS!!

Frozen in the depths of time,
With shackles on my feet,
Lifetimes away from the rising sun,
I cannot feel the heat.

Bound in body,
Yet in thoughts-free,
Memories of compassion,
Cannot warm me.

A raging fire in my mind,
A spark of which could kill,
Cannot give me peace of mind,
Cannot thaw me still.

As memories of war and innocent deaths,
Of a country torn to shreds,
Of guns and greed and avarice,
Leaving it hanging by thin threads.

I stand with my rifle,
Slung across my shoulders,
Just a face in a crowd,
Of uniformed soldiers

You didn't know I killed for you-did you?
You didn't know I cried?
You didn't know I lived for you, did you?
Well, will you know when I've died?

Lifetimes away from the rising sun,
With shackles on my feet,
Frozen in the depths of time,
I cannot feel the heat,
I cannot feel the heat.
