The Long and Winding Road
Tons of fun at Tons River Valley!
Endless treks and starry nights,
All itchy with bug bites!
It truly was an adventure,
Together it was our very last venture.
- Anandini Khanna
We embarked upon our last ever camping trip to Bull's Camp in Tons Valley, Uttarakhand in the month of March. What seemed like a long and endless journey on train and road finally came to an end and soon we were greeted by the familiar arrangement of tents.
The next few days went by in trekking up the mountains, crossing ancient bridges and freezing cold rivers, attempting to leave our environment cleaner than it first was and watching the gems of our batch put their talent on display around the bonfire - all with our friends to our sides, the infamous 'happy packs' in hand and constellated skies above.
The last and final day went by with a visit to a village where we helped our camp organizers in their initiative of cleaning up wherever they went. At the village we participated in and were witness to many activities that gave us a feel of a day in the life of a member of the village - from helping farmers plough their fields with the help of buffaloes, taking part in the tradition of coating walls with cow dung to even helping cultivate farm land with traditionally used tools.
Our last time together was spent giving a helping hand on treks up terrifying mountain paths and accompanying our friends to the 'bathroom' – getting drenched in the unpredictable rain in the process came to a close - with a lifetime of memories we will all come to cherish.
