Class 7 - Camp Ranthambore - Unforgettable Memories
It was the 3rd of March. Finally the day for the much anticipated adventure camp to Ranthambore National Park, Sawai Madhopur had arrived. After a short bus ride to the railway station, we boarded the Jan Shatabdi. We tried to be quiet, but gradually lost track of both our tone and the time. We arrived at Sawai Madhopur station around 06:00 in the evening and spent the remaining part of the day settling in and chattering away incessantly late into the night. On Day 2 ,we woke up early next morning, tired and moody from having stayed up late. We had been divided into 2 groups. Group 1 was going on a morning safari and Group 2 was staying back. I, along with the rest of my friends from Group 2 headed to the garden, where we kicked off the day with yoga to calm ourselves and then participated in a few boys vs. girls team activities. In late afternoon, Group 2 set out for the evening safari. Imagine our excitement when we spotted Arrowhead, the tigress. This gave us a chance to show off to our friends in group 1! Before dinner, we saw a documentary on Maachli, the queen of tigers. The next morning,Group 2 went for the morning safari; with the cool breeze hitting our face, we were looking forward to more adventure. We were fortunate to spot Ridhhi and Siddhi, Arrowhead's cubs. In the evening, we went for a culture visit to the rural crafts of Dastkar that promotes local artisanal crafts and then went on a visit of the Ranthambore fort. From the ramparts of the fort , we could see the green expanse of the forest spread beneath us. The final evening culminated with us enjoying Rajasthani folk song and dance performance. The next morning, we packed up and boarded the Jan Shatabdi for our return home. All of us were wistful and wished our stay was a bit longer.
